Homecoming

We brought Cole home a week ago today.  We rounded the curve toward our house and the grandmothers were swarming on the porch waiting for us!

I am so thankful that Cole enjoys riding in the car because we had a time trying to get him in his car seat for the first time.  He was screaming bloody murder, but calmed down and was so good on the ride home and every subsequent trip since.

So, the past week has definitely been a trip!  Many stories that we have already are not for those with weak stomachs!  I'll post some G-rated versions of the stories later!

One Week Old

Yesterday I was one week old!  I've had two doctor visits since I came home.  I was born weighing 8 lbs and 1/2 oz and I now weigh 7 lbs 12 oz!  My momma is feeding me well and I will soon be back up to my birth weight!

I've also had two baths since I came home.  My daddy loves to bathe me but I don't care for them too much!

My first bath
I loved watching Bama beat Mississippi State.  I didn't get to see the end of the game because I was hungry and then it was bedtime, but my daddy said that the final score was 30-10!  I love watching football with my daddy!  I hope to one day play for the Tide!  Roll Tide Roll!

He's Here!

Well, he's finally here!  Cole Bryant Bailey made his debut at 4:36 pm on November 10th.  It was a very long night (and day), but it was all worth it!

We arrived at the hospital around 9:30 pm on Tuesday, November 9th. I was leaking amniotic fluid and it took me an hour to convince the nurses that I had not peed on myself.  Finally around 1:00 am I was settled into a labor and delivery room, the grandparents and aunt were on their way, and Jeremy was right by my side.

When we got there at 9:30 I was having contractions that were 4-5 minutes apart, but I was in no pain at all.  By 6:00 am my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart, and still no pain!  So, the doctor on call came in and broke my water (which by the way, was not the "little gush" that you read about... it would have been a large puddle!) and they "augmented" my labor - so we were finally, officially on our way!

My first epidural came out around 11:00 - I was dilated 6cm....  Thank goodness that I don't really remember the extent of my pain.  I remember that I was in pain, that my mom was upset about my pain, and that Jeremy was ready to chase down the anesthesiologist that said he would "be right back."  An hour and a half after the first epidural came out, I was receiving #2!  This one just got me through labor - had I had to push any longer, it would not have been good!  ...as a side note, I do remember telling Jeremy - after #2 kicked in - that women who CHOOSE to have a natural birth are crazy!  I don't need hate mail or negative comments for saying this - if you choose this, then great, but I WILL NOT EVER CHOOSE to forgo drugs!

So, I pushed for an hour and at 4:36 pm Cole Bryant made his entrance into this world and into my heart and arms!  He was perfect!

I hate 4am

So, Jeremy is on day shift this work stretch.  I have to admit that it is much better than night shift, but it still stinks!  So, we went to bed at 815 last night.  I was up at 12ish for a potty break and again at 345 for another potty break....  Jeremy just about scared me to death at the last potty break because as I was rolling and squirming to get out of bed, I heard water running and then the bathroom door opened...!  So, anyway, I stayed awake so that I could see him for a few moments this morning, because with it being Wednesday, he will be asleep before I get home from Bible study.  Bummer.... :(

So, today, I've been awake since before 4am.... Yesterday, I stayed awake after Jeremy left for work, which was around 420am....  I got so much done yesterday....  Vacuumed most of house, cleaned spare bedroom - which is now ready for company, washed some clothes, made bow holder for baby Emily, and actually cooked dinner last night!  So, I realize that doesn't sound like I did too much yesterday, but that is a lot for swollen feet and potty breaks every 45 minutes!

So, my birthday was this past Sunday.  We went to Sam's on Monday and I picked up a book I wanted and Jeremy said, "You don't want this new Nick Sparks book?"  I didn't know he had a new book!  So, for my birthday, I got TWO books!  1. Safe Haven by Nick Sparks and 2. Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls, which is the one I'm currently reading.  She also wrote The Glass Castle, which I thoroughly enjoyed!  The Glass Castle was about her childhood - the poverty they endured and her dead beat parents....  Half Broke Horses is about her grandmother's childhood and life - so far, it's a pleasant read.  I should finish this one today provided that I wait to go to Lollipops and the mall later this week....

Just in case I haven't told you yet, my hairbows are for sale at Lollipops Children's Consignment on Baston Road in Martinez, GA.  All bows are for sale at my craft show prices - there is no mark up!  And, in case you were wondering, I HAVE to go to the mall this week because I have to have my wedding rings inspected to keep up my warranty....  I had forgotten that that was this month until two nights ago around 10pm....  I was quietly digging through drawers for my paperwork, trying my best not to wake the one who had to go to work the next day!  I don't think I was successful, because he asked me last night what I was doing around 10 the night before!  Oh well!

Whew, are we counting down the days!

Well, Cole will be here in just a few short weeks, or sooner....  My original due date is November 20th, but he is measuring big, so he could be here much sooner than that!  So, we have our bags packed and are just waiting!  The grandparents are also just waiting....  it's so funny that if they miss a call from us, that they call us back in a panic as soon as they realize they've missed a call!

So, since my last post, we've had two baby showers: one back home with family and one here, from our church family.  I'll have to post pics later, when I download them from my camera, so I hope you can wait!  But long story short, boy, do we have diapers, wipes, and anything with the University of Alabama printed on it!

UPDATE!
Here are the pics I promised!
